The Socking Bentley in the Room

Oh Betties! It's been so long since my last post. And though I am mostly posting on Facebook now, that is no reason to neglect TUJD-proper. Yes, I've been busy (5 Pledges, Christmas holidays, family commitments, Sunday School teaching, Cub Scouts...drip, drip, drip...) but I also lost my voice. You can hear it going in my last Essie Summers video--and it's been gone for TEN WEEKS. Not gone but raspy, cutting in and out. Betties, I sound like I'm a dissipated rock star, ruining herself with cigarettes, cheap men and no sleep.

I'm actually happy that video exists because I would probably be blaming my loss of voice entirely on being carried away beyond vocal prudence at a Killers concert. But I remember thinking I should baby my voice along so that I could sing at the top of my lungs at the concert...so the bright memory of that extrordinary night can remain undimmed.  (Don't confuse me with logic.)

Anyway, I finally made an appointment with a vast medical mind for next week and here's hoping he's got some answers.

I leave you with a romantical selection and promises to forge onward:

    1. I feel ridiculous being bothered by it since I can speak and be understood but it's made meeting with my writing group difficult since one of our members often phones in. Worse, I can hardly yell at my kids! haha

    2. I am sure the kids are happy not to hear mom yelling. Just wait until you get well. I lost my voice a couple of years ago but it was only for two weeks. I could not get a sound out. My sister had the same thing and tne doctor told her it was a virus that gets in tbe vocal cords.

  2. Sorry to hear about your voice. I had a similar malady, last year, my voice was practically gone for a while and scratchy thereafter, but not for as long as yours. Of course, one always catches these things before days off... It was several weeks before I was completely free of symptoms. I hope the vast medical mindπŸ‘¨πŸ»‍⚕️ will find out what ails you, pour some brandy down your throat and give you some pills to swallow πŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’Š that will help you get well really, really soon.

    1. Facebook is doing something so weird. I used to be able to pin a post to the top of a page and comments were allowed below. Now it lets me pin it as an 'announcement' but it doesn't look like comments are allowed on those. If you keep scrolling, you'll find our post. I do not understand the change at all.

    3. I used to get a zillion - OK, a lot of notifications on Facebook. Now I only get a very few. Also, and this has been going on for quite a while, I've got the sound on for all notifications but I hardly ever get a sound signal. Bothers me!
