Football, Pinterest and Betty Neels.

All roads lead to Neels. That's right, all roads...except, perhaps, the expressways to Brighton.

First, let's talk football. American football. According to all the grocery advertisements in my  newspaper, this coming Sunday is the Super Bowl. If there are any non-American Bettys out there who don't know what the Super Bowl is...well...I'm not going to tell you - you'll have to look it up on the inter-web-nets. What does football have to do with the Great Betty, you ask?  Walk with me.

Here in the U.S. of A. there is a strange fascination with something called Fantasy Football (again, if you don't know what it is...well, here's a link).  I'm not really sure how it works, but here's a little snippet from Wikipedia:

Fantasy football is an interactive, virtual competition in which people manage professional football players versus one another and that allows people to act as general managers of a pseudo-football team. The players that an individual is able to manage are professional American Football players in the National Football League. The different actions people are able to make are drafting, trading, adding/dropping players, and changing rosters. Due to the growth of the Internet, fantasy football has become far more popular in America today than ever before.

So...it's sort of like football, but it's not real, and lots of time can be wasted on the computer with it.

The next stop on our tour is Pinterest. I ran across this quote a few weeks ago that quite nicely sums it up:

It's really quite easy for me to get sucked into an alternate dimension of time and space spending a little too much time on Pinterest.  I try and limit myself to being on it only while I'm doing something else also - like talking on the phone - which I do quite a bit of.  So...let's recap...we've gone from football to fantasy football to Pinterest. 

Now to tie in the Venerable Betty.

I was talking to Betty Keira a week or two ago about the fantasy football/Pinterest connection and I had an idea. I told her that I thought it would be fun to start our own pin boards for a fantasy cottage.  I named mine "Ogre's Relish" (that's the cottage in Cassandra by Chance) and she named hers "The House on Gregor's Brae" (which is an Essie Summers title). If you get a chance, pop on over and have a look, but beware of the time sucking vortex of doom potential to waste a lot of time. 

Don't say I didn't warn you. Seriously.

And now, to make it a little more fun, if you happen to be a member of Pinterest, how about starting a new board related to your favorite Neels!  Since my fav is Caroline's Waterloo, that's the one I'm choosing.  If you're not on Pinterest (and don't want to become a computer zombie lose track of a day or two) feel free to make suggestions here in the comments, of images you would pin for your favorite book.
