Semi-Legit

I was toodling around the inter-web-nets this morning and found this little tidbit of awesome.
I may or may not have squealed like a little girl.

(I found this at the very bottom of the article on Betty Neels...and you can too!)

Well, ooo-rah!! Congrats to the Founding Bettys!! A documented Wikipedia entry--what more could you ask? (and that, of course, is a VERY rhetorical question...)

  2. YEAH! I tried once to put TUJD on the entry, but it was kicked off because of their policy against blogs being included so KUDOS to whomever got it through!

  3. Woweee! I CANNOT believe that this blog actually exists. I have been an undercover (shshsh) Neels junkie for a very long time. By day I work on a very serious (and hopeful!) peace project in a university cadre and was a former well-known journalist, and on this blog I can finally come OUT OF THE CLOSET!
In this age of Paris Hiltons, YAYYYYYY for Betty! And the uncrrushable jersey dress!
Has anyone begun a collection Neels best old retainer names? Moggy, for example? LOL!
Perhaps too a Most Wanted list re the most villainous Neels female Evil Ones? A good part of many books is actually about evil -- and she knows that sort so well.
One regret. That the books are often full of angst-- either those lonnnng-unconsommated marriages! or the dangling, sometimes intentional!, of a rival! -- and suddenly on the last page everything turns out perfectly, but we don't get the details on the wedding, if it hasn't happened (as in those Brides magazines... !) or to chortle re all the evil relatives who are one-upped by the heroine's great luck and who are not invited to the wedding! An impression some times that the second shoe hasn't dropped. Still, addicted for ever. Thanks a ZILLION for this.

Welcome to a new Betty! Glad you found us!
If you go to the search box and type in the phrase 'Betty by the Numbers' you should pull up a number of posts by our Betty van den Betsy. She covers all sorts of topics, including the faithful retainers of both hero and heroine.
      Happy reading!

    3. Now there's at least one where there are serious details on the wedding--the one where the RDD could have been a wedding planner. Which one is that? Philomena's grr Miracle in which the mum claims (at the wedding!) that it's a miracle (grr) that Philomena got anyone decent at all so the RDD shoves it down mummy's (or step-mummy's?) throat?

    4. There are a quite a few of books where we get a number of details on the wedding. I think. Wedding Bells for Beatrice, Never the Time and the Place ("To you of course, Josephine", proposal and wedding at Stourton church/Stourhead), Midnight Sun's Magic (first wedding at the "Raadhuis", married by the Burgemeester, and then at the church in Goes)...
Philomena's Miracle, the wedding, read for yourself.

Betty JoDee--there's also Matilda's Wedding, Wherein Henry (the RBD) and Matilda plan a white wedding in a month. Matilda's toxic mom keeps trying to interfere--small wedding? nope, Henry says it will be big. Rent a dress? Matilda already has one in hand. Toxic mom then tops it off by saying to her daughter, on her wedding day, "why, you look pretty"--as if that's an impossibility.
(One of my favorite books--partly because toxic mom is soooo toxic!)

    6. Yep, Betty Barbara, that's the one!!!
I like it when you get to see that the RDD resents it on her behalf and sets out to settle a score, so to speak.

    7. An Innocent Bride has the wedding at the end of the book (a month after the proposal), but this book is part of a Harlequin sub-series called "White Weddings" (an ad at the back of the book shows there were three other authors in 1999 that were part of this sub-series). I wonder if this was just one of BN normal novels and Harlequin asked BN to add a few pages at the end about the actual wedding itself...

    8. I have been working on "BbtN: Other Women" and "BbtN: Other Men" in very sporadic intervals, but given recent events (no more personal life, no more professional life) I'll have more time to devote to them shortly. That assumes I'm not locked up for my own and society's safety. The latest disaster to strike is that the 18-year old Favorite Girl has gone on a hunger strike, and no force on earth will keep that beloved cat going on zero calories per day. The loss of the former Jonkheer (heartbreaking nincompoops are stripped of their titles; a little-known fact of heraldic law) and the inconsequential job were distressing, but the apparently-imminent loss of the beloved Jojo is going to rip most of my internal organs right out of my body.

I know, I know: these are first-world problems.

    9. Tempt her with baby food. For some reason chicken is the most tasty. My Puck had to have 5 lower teeth pulled last week, and we've been feeding him chicken and turkey. There is also a nutrition gel that the vet has that can be put in her mouth. I am having a senior moment and can't remember the name. It is worth a try. :( Hugs.

  4. I only found TUJD a month or two ago -- at that time, I noticed that the link was on the Wikipedia page. I just assumed everyone knew about it.

Looking at the history of the Wikipedia page, it looks like TUJD link was added Dec 8, 2011 by a user named Rberesford.

    1. Ah, I knew it. Well, I guessed it. Or, more precisely, I was wondering if the link came out of Betty Magdalen's corner of the world. Ross Beresford aka Betty Ross is our Betty Magdalen's brit hub 2.0 (British husband #2), if you haven't heard of him yet.

    2. Yeah, Betty Ross! And a HAPPY FOURTH to one of our favorite naturalized citizens!

  5. Yes, it was Betty Ross who added that link. And the one with her birth certificate. He's a Wiki-capable kind of guy.
