I'd just like to say that I'm not very proud of my pick for Romantic Encounter. There is next to nothing redeeming about it aside from the fact that, like Alexander's in Romantic Encounter, it has a clinic in the ghetto. Here it is (in all it's cringe-worthy glory):

Let's see what we've got here. Purge-slim, stethoscope-wielding Elvis? Check. Creepy nun/doctor romance. Racial politics. Budding feminism. Inappropriate musical interludes. Gang violence. Ice-cream cones. Check-ety, check, check, checkcheckcheck.

A Girl to Love has the irascible Oliver churning out scripts for TV shows. Well, that brings to mind some other gifted writers (of plays not shows):

The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)

I love this movie--plucky farm animals write a Broadway musical and hustle for a producer. As it relates to A Girl to Love, I suppose Miss Piggy has more of an Oliver vibe, while Kermit is so very, very Sadie.

This movie has one of my all-time favorite gags.
