Viewing the Future

Betty Debbie and Betty Keira negotiate.
"Dibs on The Fortunes of Francesca!"
" Fine, you take that and I get The Final Touch."
Betty Keira and I had a video conference call this week.  Because that's how we roll. We were able to divide up the remaining books to be reviewed.  Our new Estimated Date of the Last Review, is April 28th.  Mark your calendars and order your black armbands.

  1. Oh, you rotters! It's very depressing. But, if I continue to read a BN a day, I should be caught up by then, which will be a nice consolation. (I'm currently working through the books reviewed in June...)

  2. Okay, again, I'm in a total panic. Fellow Bettys, what can we do? Slow down reviews? One a week? (I can't keep up or get ahold of the books in a timely fashion anyway.) Something, anything?

  3. There has to be a way to do something AFTER all the books are reviewed. We can't just all pack up our tents and find a new home. NO WAY!

Maybe we can do guest submissions, reviews, ways we've enjoyed Betty books, or been influenced by then - any ideas?

  4. Well, this just stinks. I know you'all have lives to live, but we have to keep this going somehow!

  5. We've been kicking around what to do here after the heavy lifting of book reviews are done. I think we plan to do at least weekly discussion threads and then reader submissions and then continuing our lively discussions in the comment sections of old posts. That'll keep us a little busy, right?

  6. Say it ain't so! I check in with you guys at least once a day and I will miss you if you're not there. If you really did end your blog, I would try to be strong like a Betty Neels character, but in truth, I'm not as tough as any of them. I'd never have been able to drag luggage and a cat basket across the country for a menial job at a nursing home - believe me, I wouldn't have it in me. I will be devastated if you end this blog - don't do it!!!!!!

  7. I'm not worried. I'm being a good Araminta - somehow this will work out just fine. Sure things change, but maybe the change will be just as nice. Like first you're living in a Regency townhouse near Harley Street with the Jollys looking after you . . . and then you're in Leiden on a tree-lined street just off the Rapenburg Canal having your tea brought to you by Jan & Bep.

Have faith, Bettys! We'll all be together in May, I promise.

  8. I suppose I can adjust to a Jan & Bep kind of life.

    ;-)

That made me laugh right out loud, Betty Magdalen.

  9. Betty Mags you've confused your books.
There's a Polly, but there's no PollyAnna in the canon!
So Let's hope, and here I'll totally misquote
Julie as Maria or Pope John XXIII as himself:
Where The BettySisters Close a Blog, they'll
crack open the trunk of the Great Socking Bently.

  10. Janet W aka Betty Janet: I've only laid my hands on about 40 Betty Neels: I'll never catch up ... plus all the extras about every book. Don't we need to devote lots of April to copious and learned and detailed discussions of the Royal Wedding? I love the trashy articles I'm reading about the Queen phoning Prince William and asking him if he's going to ride his bike to the wedding. haha, as if. It sounds like the Big House (that would be Buck House) is taking over the nitty gritty deets of the wedding of the year! Nay, decade!!

  11. Oooo I want to submit my versions of a BN. That would be so fun!

  12. What about finding and reviewing other books similar to Betty books? I know it wouldn't be the same, not many RDD's, but we could compare them and figure out what Betty books they were most like. :-) Things like... is the hero really an RDD in disguise. Just so's the characters don't go to Brighton, for Betty would never countenance such a thing.

  13. Betty Cyndi - we occasionally do just that, review other authors, I mean. We have a whole series called 'Life After Betty' that you might want to check out (see the labels on the sidebar - it looks like we've done 19 posts so far. If you have any beloved books/authors that would fit the profile (non-Brightonish)please, oh please, share!
