(The title song was a big hit when I was a little girl, and my mother never once reproached us for going around humming a tune about Greek prostitutes--maybe some things are best just left unexplained to little ones.) The young Bettys are gonna have to look this one up.
I totally remember that song...but I was much too young to know it was a tune about Greek prostitutes. I'm laughing at myself - if I thought it was about anything, I'll bet I thought it was about not working on Sunday...which I suppose is true.
Betty Barbara here-- From the movie itself we have THIS. And then there's a version that made the US pop charts Connie Francis version. Hope this fills the bill.
Ohhhhh, Gregory Peck......
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming the Betty at the Cinema double-feature next week will be Never Say Never Again and Finding Neverland...
ReplyDeleteHow about Never on a Sunday? heehee

Oh, I'm sorry -- I had posted the links to the Melina Mercouri version and to Petula Clark's version, but Blogger ate my post, clearly. Or I posted it in the wrong place.
ReplyDeleteMy bad.
