No, checked in while eating breakfast at home. Went out for lunch. I like this one because you can tell he falls in love with her at first sight. Le sigh.
So today, because I could, I decided to have beans on toast (on a tray) for brunch, since I had missed breakfast, elevenses were too far away, and I needed something substantial to hold body and soul together, before I tackled the rough. My cleaning lady being me, of course.
I pinned up my hair and threw on a cardy, which soon came off because it's a little warm in Tejas today, broke out the pink "Old Britain Castles" dinnerware, which drives me nuts because it should be either "Castles of Old Britain" or "Old British Castles", warmed up the Brown Betty teapot and made my Lady Grey, sprinkled a little cheese on the beans for "British Nachos", haha, and tucked in. I did not break out the silver (well, silverplate) or the linen napkins because I didn't want to clean them. So it was Danish Modern flatware and a paper serviette for me. I started out eating Continental style but kept losing my beans, so I switched back to American. Totally forgettable taste-wise but it did fill me up. I even read "The Lady" online classifieds to enhance the experience, where I saw an ad for a Polish born nanny so apparently Mrs. Olbinski is still out there kicking, and I had my British Palace Guard stuffed bear for company, even though there is something wrong about a bear wearing a bearskin hat. What more could I have done? Where is my Dutch doctor? I expect him to appear at any moment, seeing as how my my hair is a mess and my nose is shiny.....
Silly old bear ate all my honey and spilled his tea everywhere....
Where were you two with the lovable and adorable comments 40 plus years ago when I was getting spanked for doing things "cause I could" ? Love you girls, this blog never fails to cheer me up, even if there are no new comments, I reread the reviews and recipes.
Still have not finished re-reading this...
ReplyDeleteHi there, Betty von Susie, saw you earlier today. Did you go out for breakfast?
