Doormats

Calling all Bettys! We are desperately seeking submissions for doormats.

It's hard for me to come up with the perfect picture of a doormat - because doormats are seldom leading ladies. A true doormat is forgettable. It's not about looks so much as it is about personality. Or lack of personality.

Betty JoDee emailed us a couple of her choices.

Who do you think personifies the word "doormat"? Either send me a picture or leave her name in the comments and I will try and find one (No, you can't use your next-door neighbor! Or anyone related to you).

  1. Hmmmmm...Why are we forgetting Olivia de Havalland in Gone With the Wind? That woman married an idiot and takes it and takes it. She's lovely herself but should have thrown Ashley out on his ear.

  2. Joanne Woodward's performance in Rachel Rachel. Very difficult movie to watch, btw.

But the best doormat roles are for men:

Jack Lemmon's character in Billy Wilder's The Apartment, and "Mr. Cellophane" himself, Roxie Hart's husband, Amos, in the musical Chicago.
