I have made two, both with long sleeves (one's a baseball style raglan, the other's just a long sleeved t-shirt).
One says:
Betty Neels:
1910 - Born in Devon, England 1930s - Trains as a nurse & midwife 1940s - Serves in WWII, marries Dutch patriot 1950s - Works as a nurse in Holland 1960s - Retires from nursing; writes first romance novel 1970s-90s - Writes 133 more romance novels 2001 - Dies peacefully in hospital
Bettysday 9 - 15 - 2010
The other says:
Betty Neels was 59 when she wrote her first romance novel
I fear they won't arrive in time, but that's okay: I'm wearing an uncrushable jersey dress to The Four Seasons for tea with Betty JoDee.
May I just say, I actually get a little misty-eyed when I think that I'm going to be meeting a new person simply because we share this love for a writer none of us ever got to meet? I only wish we could have all met each other -- global simulcast hook-up or something.
Yay! And Betty Ross and Betty Henry (well, he isn't officially a Betty, but by the end of Bettysday he will be) are psyched about tea & (later on) profiteroles.
Mind you, we're currently in Erie, PA (my tag on your globe says Elyria, Ohio -- I'm on with with someone from Mungia / Pais Vasco in Spain), staying at a bed & breakfast that Betty Neels would have loved. Breakfast this morning was blueberry croissants (commercially made ones) that had been "french breaded" -- soaked in egg & smooshed together & fried. Yum. We're very very full; good thing we're going walking soon.

I still have time
Bettysday
9/15/10
I used Century Roman as the font in both cases.
Betty Magdalen, you are my hero.

ReplyDeleteThe Founding Bettys demand pictures!
I don't have my t-shirt yet, but I do have my train tickets to Philadelphia for our tea at the Four Seasons.
