Good morning, intrepid founding Bettys!
I couldn't help but share some pictures I took this last week when my work required me to be in Alaska for five days. Alas, I was stymied in my efforts to take many Betty pictures because I was by myself and had my books on my work iPad, which is very heavy to hold at arm's length when one is trying to also take a picture with the other hand! But it was a beautiful (and very very busy!) trip, and I thought of you all along the way... so here is Betty in the Wild - along the highway south of Anchorage to Seward, and in my hotel on Kodiak Island. I just had to bring Caroline's Waterloo north with me!
It was utterly gorgeous and the pictures don't do it
justice, so of course I tried to sneak a few more in for posterity's
sake. I drove from Anchorage to Seward (which was still rather flooded,
which of course made for an interesting drive... it would have been
much nicer with someone along to drive me in a great socking Bentley,
instead of a subcompact rental car!), spent a few busy days there, then
went back to Anchorage for more meetings, and onward to Kodiak before
returning home. It was so busy I only had time to read Mrs. Neels on
the plane! Still, I can't wait for my next trip north... and I'll have
to stock up with more books before then!
But I wanted the Bettys to know I was thinking of
them on the trip! I wonder, is this the furthest North a Betty in the
Wild has gone so far? Hurrah, we're spanning the globe!
Moving right along,
Betty Beth
Oh, wow, a Betty with a Betty in Alaska! Great pictures. Thanks for taking the time. What little there was.
ReplyDeleteThat second photo is gorgeous! An Alaskan cruise is in our plans. We hope to go in a couple of years.

Hurrah, the pictures made it through... and the order is perfect! I'm glad they were posted. It's kind of silly, I was so excited to do Betty in the Wild pictures when they told me I'd be going to Alaska. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm working on unbelievably huge piles of laundry. My Betty in the Wild report will be coming soon.

I want to see "Betty in the Laundry", finally, an adventure I can actually relate to.....

I'm not showing you my knickers!

Don't be all coy now, Betty A. Everyone thinks us Texas gals all wear flour sack drawers, this is your chance to show off your so-fisty-cated city underbritches and make us all look good!

More when I get home next week.
Betty Mary, I love the book-releasing idea. Are you in Cavan? I used to know a young man (when in college) who was grateful to the schoolmaster who "beat the Cavan accent out" of him.
ReplyDeleteBetty Beth, thank you SO MUCH for the Alaska pix! I've never been, though I semi-promised the Jonkheer a trip there a few Christmases ago. Problem: I want a shot at seeing the northern lights, which means Fairbanks in late winter, and he wants to avoid cold as much as possible, which means not Fairbanks and not any kind of winter. Hmmm.
