Question of the Week

You can be my wingman anytime.

While in Portugal, Judith catches the eye of Doctor Sebastiao:

Why was it, she wondered, that a man you had not the least interest in chatted you up whenever you met, and someone you desperately wanted to like you--even notice you--behaved as though you were yesterday's cold potatoes?

I only have experience with this from my adolescence but truer words were never written. I seemed to have particular luck in attracting the best friend (the wing-man, if you will) of the pock-marked boy-child (seriously, how could I even be attracted? The mind boggles.) that I actually wanted to catch the eye of.

Question: Agree or disagree?

  1. I am *so* not qualified to address this question, but I'll pass along two insights. First, from my mother: "If it's magic for one person, then it's magic for the other."

And second, from me: "And if only one person *thinks* it's magic, it isn't. It may just be this week/month/year's production at the Magical Thinking Romance Theater."

I put on a lot of plays at the Magical Thinking Romance Theater back in the day...
