Cinema Betty

In Winter Wedding, Plain Jane Emily is written off by the hero and undergoes a little make-over (some of it better than others). My pick is:
New Kind of Love (1963)
A journalist mistakes a woman for a prostitute. While he tries to interview her about her job he falls in love with her.

If anyone plays the part of rat-fink Louisa then it's Eva Gabor, snaring idiot men without a by-your-leave. This is a fun movie (even if silly (really silly)).

A Winter Love Story begins with our heroine cleaning the books in the Colonel's library, raising 'mummified dust'. That's good enough to recommend:
The Mummy (1999)
It has one of the best library scenes on film and...ahem...mummified dust. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz look gorgeous all while being pursued by the rotting damned.

  1. I thought I was the only one in the world who had seen A New Kind of Love.
It is very silly, but I do love it. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward had real chemistry.
    Clearly! ;-)

  2. Love Brendan Fraser, not at all hard on the eyes.
