  1. Did we finish voting? Who won? What's the dill, pickle? (Yes I know it's "deal" but, no pun there)

  3. Oh, but that cover makes me so nostalgic for the days of my youth when all MB covers were like that. Sigh.

    1. Mrs. Fife, are you getting the Betty Neels re-prints in India now? They're available in the UK and US. And Betty Carla, can you tell us whether they're on sale in the Antipodes?

    2. Not that I've noticed except for a trilogy hubby got me at Christmas which was a new reprint of The Edge of Winter, The Fifth day of Christmas and Years Happy Ending. I am currently convalescing after foot surgery on a bunion and plantar plane fascia repair so have not been able to get to the stores. I feel a little like Esmeralda but unlike RDD doing surgery mine was a greek named surgeon but one who could quite easily be a cadidate for a medical romance with his close cropped steel grey hair. I have quite a few of Betty's later books and some earlier ones if anyone is interested. Happy to share or post overseas.

  4. Sigh. This was the second Betty I was ever sent by Harlequin (in that monthly six pack thing), and it was this romantic cover.

  5. I JUST (two days ago) found a vintage copy of this one at a booth at our county fair! After running outside the exhibit building to get the asking price of $.50 off of Professor van der Hertenzoon, I returned to the Consequences of Brighton waving my treasure. They collapsed into laughter at the cover of old, white-haired sleeping guy and the hovering hair-in-a-bun with a one-too-many-unbuttoned-buttons. They immediately declared it the equivalent of the original cover of At the End of the Day that The Heir once pronounced "looks like a short college freshman hugging his mother who has just been tazered in the neck."

    1. Is this the short college freshman hugging his mother who has just been tazered in the neck cover? Haha. Ugly dude. I think I have seen him on Regency covers. Not how I would envision Professor van der Wagema.
He had dark hair, greying at the temples, dark eyes with drooping lids, a formidable nose and a mouth which was firm to the point of grimness.

    2. Yep, that's it--The Founding Bettys call it the Charlie Sheen/J Lo. cover. I made a new cover, but since I flunked Betty Magdalen's linking class, I can't show you. Well, I'll try:

    3. Hey, a hyperlink by Betty JoDee! Well done, Betty JoDee, you get an A+. That cover is infinitely better than the original. Loved to read "The Making of" story!

  6. I love the white-haired hero on the cover, but not the girl. She looks more like a Veronica than an Araminta to me.

Betty van den Betsy, we do get a few of the re-prints in India now, with the nondescript pretty pictures on the covers. But used bookshops are full of the older Betty Neels, apparently they are extremely popular.

MrsFife, I regularly lurk around your blog and Ravelry page, and am pleasantly surprised to know you are also a TGB fan.
