Since it's Thanksgiving week here, Betty Keira and I decided to each do a novella instead of a full length novel. We're also bumping Thursday's review to Wednesday. Looking ahead to December, you can count on lots of Christmas themed titles making the review roster.
Monday, November 21st. An Ordinary Girl (can be found in 'The Engagement Effect' - a two-fer book with author Liz Fielding). Village fĂȘte, helpful Nanny, atrocious wedding Hat (worn by soon to be ex-fiancee).
Wednesday, November 23rd. Dearest Eulalia (found in 'Mistletoe Miracles' ). "Lally wasn't deceitful, but needs must when the devil drove..." RDD wields a mean spanner.
Wow. What a hat! So, they broke up over that?
ReplyDeleteLet's just say that the hat was the final straw--a big, colorful final straw.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to write this review...I'm just loving the book. Everybody order it now!
I think I've read Ordinary Girl. It's so hard to remember if there isn't a cover picture. I do remember a Betty Neels story with amazing headgear purchased for a wedding. I'll have to wait for the review.
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to have to think about wedding hats since Kate Middleton and Prince William just announced their engagement. (LOL - I'm waiting by my mailbox for the invite)
I don't remember Betty mentioning English royalty - just Dutch titles. And all of her later RBD were "sirs" knighted for service, right?
Betty StMags
I confess to reading the Daily Mail this morning re: The Interminable Courtship. Eight years--I get why (what with the extraordinary pressures they will be under)they waited--but I'd love them to say that they've been secretly wed since 2003, have a couple of heirs and spares (that's why she occasionally dropped out of public, yes?)and have been 'happily matrimonified' all this time.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm a 'marry-young-and-starve-in-the-garret' type, myself...
Oh, wow - *Royal* secret babies. Now there's a Harlequin novel!
